    Hemp is a wonderful …
Hemp is a wonderful source of nutrition, a potential biofuel and extremely versatile in textile uses.

It also draws nutrients to the surface from deeper soil and is nitrogen fixing, great for replenishing overfarmed and dead soil.

am not a user of MJ
but am not an idiot either
    MJ does not equal hemp
and, yes, the reason hemp is being kept illegal to grow here does appear to have something to do with that it could solve the foreign oil dependency which has gone from 30 to 70% since the Dept of Energy was founded in the 70s to free America from dependence on foreign oil!
personally i use hemp supplements – oil and the protein powder in my morning smoothie

    You forgot to …
You forgot to mention the economic role of DuPont and Dow Chemical in this issue; how they directly and indirectly control the production of hemp. Hemp would compete with artificial fibers and materials such as rayon and polyester, which would allow regular folks to compete with big textile industry – we just can’t have that in the good ol USA. This issue is not about drugs or THC, it’s about control of the money flow.

    Presently, the U.S. …
Presently, the U.S. government considers the growing of industrial hemp to be a felony crime. But with farmers desperately needing profitable crops — and with hemp products being imported from Canada, China and other countries — it only makes sense to de-criminalize industrial hemp in the USA and let farmers grow it locally.

    fossil oil, my …
fossil oil, my friend, it is hemp’s largest enemy. although this problem is much simpler than my usual illuminati rants, it is routed with the same power-hungry, fear mongering bastards. industrial hemp can clean our air more effeciently than the trees we are also so actively on, it can provide rediculously strong textiles and durable clothing, all with a fast re-grow rate. where is the crime? then again, ask yourself: what IS crime?
